– Rep. Curt Sonney (R-Erie) is hosting a public meeting with PennDOT to display plans for repairs to the bridge that carries Old Wattsburg Road/Wattsburg Road (Route 2006) over French Creek in Waterford Township.
“The impending construction of the bridge has caused concern in the community,” said Sonney. “This meeting will provide area residents with information on the project plan, and PennDOT personnel will be there to answer any questions they may have.”
The meeting will be held Thursday, Oct. 25, at 7 p.m. at Harmony Baptist Church, 2067 Old Wattsburg Road, Waterford.
The bridge is located on Old Wattsburg Road/Wattsburg Road (Route 2006), approximately a quarter mile east of the intersection with Juva Valley Road.
Construction will include replacement of the bridge deck along with epoxy overlay and updated guiderails.
Construction is expected to occur during the 2019 construction season. An anticipated detour would use Kimball Hill Road (Route 2009), Route 97 and Route 19.
The existing bridge, which is currently closed, was built in 1967. Approximately 500 vehicles a day pass over the bridge.
The plans display is also an opportunity for the public to review and comment on the project’s potential effect upon cultural resources in accordance with the Advisory Council on Historic Preservation.
