Sonney Applauds Decision on Harborcreek Terminal Project
HARBORCREEK – State Rep. Curt Sonney (R-Harborcreek) is welcoming today’s decision by the Greater Erie Industrial Development Corp. and DevelopErie's Joint Finance Committee to withdraw funding for the proposed $60 million intermodal rail terminal in Harborcreek Township. The group voted unanimously this morning to terminate the project.

Sonney issued the following statement in reaction to the vote:

“I have been on record as opposing the project in this location, but not the project as a whole. We are in need of economic development and the jobs produced by it. I know a great deal of time and effort has been invested into selling the Harborcreek location. It is my hope that it will not be wasted, and the benefits of this endeavor will be realized in a more suitable sector of Erie County.”
