Sonney Praises State Investment in Corry Hospital Expansion Project
8/13/2018
HARRISBURG - Rep. Curt Sonney (R-Harborcreek Township) today applauded the release of $1 million in state funds in support of a project to increase health service availability in southeast Erie County.

Specifically, the funding will be used in support of a project to construct a new medical arts facility connected to the LECOM Corry Memorial Hospital. This facility will serve as a home base for specialty doctors to use in service to patients in the Corry area. Additionally, the project includes the construction of a new senior living center adjacent to the medical arts facility.

“This state grant is a significant step forward in acquiring the funds necessary for a project important to the health and well-being of current and future residents of southeast Erie County,” Sonney said. “Access to medical specialists has been a substantial burden for residents in this area, as most now must drive nearly an hour to receive this type of care.”

The funding was awarded to the Redevelopment Authority of the City of Corry through the state’s Redevelopment Assistance Capital Project program. Funding for the project was authorized by lawmakers in the Capital Budget Project Itemization Act.
